Filipino Kali-Eskrima

Largo Mano Style

Kali-Eskrima is an ancient martial art from the Philippines that emphasizes strongly on the use of weapons. It is often remembered as the martial art that destroyed Magellan and his well equipped, well trained Spanish soldiers at the hands of Lapu Lapu, one of the first Filipino heroes and the first Eskrima master to display his skills. This victory paved the way for continued victories over the foreign invader's.

Kali-Eskrima (also known as Arnis) is sometimes described as "stick fighting", although the techniques extend well beyond the use of the sticks to bladed weapons as well as Mano Libre (Free Hand).

DTI teaches  Largo Mano Eskrima (Long Hand) as passed down to Guro Edgardo Perez by Punong Guro (Grand Master) Manuel Robles Taningco. Students will learn Sinawali, (Double and Single Stick Fighting) Espada y Daga and Cinco Teros.

Mastery is not limited to men;  because it relies on speed and practical techniques, it is an ideal self-defense skill for men as well as women.

At this time Guro Perez only teaches Kali privately.
